Slick Anthology

A video game collection in blog form… a constant work in progress

Spot Goes to Hollywood

System: PlayStation

Genre: 2.5D Platformer

Release: 11/30/96

Completed: Yes

I remember being excited finally finding this game on the used game shelf at the store. I thought the first game, simply called Cool Spot on the SNES, was totally amazing. It had some superb music and decent gameplay. On top of that, it stars the mascot of 7-UP cola, what else do you need?

Anyway, Spot Goes to Hollywood isn’t nearly as good. It’s a 2.5D platformer game that is rough on the controls, not nearly as fun, and without the stellar music from the first game. I only got through the game by using a cheat code for extra lives, and honestly if I didn’t have that I would never have trudged through the entire game. Stay away from this one; stick with the original.

Buy this game from Amazon.
