Tales of the Abyss
There was some buzz around the release of this game, notably that it was a harder to find PS2 classic RPG coming to the 3DS. And also that the 3DS was potentially becoming a dumping station for old RPGs. Either way you slice it, Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS held up well. The Japanese RPG is endearing, with a memorable cast of characters, a fun combat system, and a lighthearted-yet-terribly-devastating storyline. This is a straight port of the PS2 original, with the only addition being an attempt, and I use that world cautiously, at adding a 3D view. The 3D was done so sloppily though, with character speech bubbles not lining up and character models looking weird and distorted with the 3D slider turned up. For what it’s worth, Tales of the Abyss on the 3DS was still a good RPG, just one that hardcore RPG gamers experienced years ago.
