Zero Escape: Virtue’s Last Reward

Zero Escape Virtues Last Reward Cover

System: 3DS

Genre: RPG/Visual Novel

Release: 11/23/12

Completed: Yes

Deception, puzzles, backstabbing, sometimes real stabbings… Virtue’s Last Reward was a game that I was not expecting anything from and left me absolutely stunned. Some of the best storytelling I’ve experienced in any game, Virtue’s Last Reward isn’t about the gameplay, it’s about the story and how you get there. Forced to play a game where failure can result in death, you are confined with eight other interesting yet flawed characters in a strange warehouse with not a clue as to why you’re there. As the layers and layers of the puzzles unwrap, you discover just how bizarre and twisted the game and each person you’ve met have become. Though it’s nary on gameplay, Virtue’s Last Reward is one of the most compelling, entertaining, and addictive games on the 3DS system. If you fancy yourself an RPG fan or lover of story more than gameplay, you must play this game.

I liked 999 a little bit better I think… mostly because of the ending perhaps? Anyways, both are fricken amazing and contain some of the best stories and attention to story telling of any media out there
