The last of the original trilogy of games on the DS, Professor Layton and the Unwound Future is my personal favorite game in the Professor Layton series. The plot revolves around Luke and Layton traveling unwillingly through time into the future, where things are always what the seem. There were more puzzles to solve, better crafted puzzles, and a story that is easily the best so far in the series. This game also has one of the saddest/sweetest endings I’ve seen in a game, and it is a whole lot better if you’ve played through the previous two games. While every game in the series has had extras and minigames to play, I found the bonus content in Unwound Future to be actually fun and rewarding, a trend that continues through subsequent entries in the series. As a trio of games, the three Professor Layton games are among the very best the DS has to offer.
