Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter
The second game in Capcom’s Vs. series (or the fourth if you include the non-versus games Children of the Atom and Marvel Super Heroes), Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter pits classic Marvel comic characters against Ryu, Chun-Li, and more World Warriors. The game is a brilliant setup: some of the most iconic fighting game characters battling the most well known super heroes in a top notch fighting game created by Capcom. But as with every PS1 port of the Vs. series, the game suffers from poor translation from the arcade and offensive omissions. The arcade version includes 2-on-2 tag team combat, but this port doesn’t allow that due to limitations by the PlayStation console. The Sega Saturn port (only released in Japan) retains the arcade features and is the better port of the two. Regardless of version, there are inklings of something greater under the surface of this game: the forthcoming Marvel vs. Capcom, which would see release the following year.
