To commemorate the 10th anniversary of the Blue Bomber Capcom released… Mega Man 8. Yeah, not the big project you might think of for a decades worth of games, but it’s something! MM8 would be the last title in the classic series for over 10 years, as the downloadable game Mega Man 9 came after multiple spin-offs and continuations of other Mega Man series’. I wasn’t a big fan of 8. I thought the series had gotten stale a few entries prior, and the innovations were few and far between. The formula is totally fine though: running through levels, defeating the Robot Masters, and gaining new powers is fun. It’s just that we had all done that seven times before. I think that’s a major reason why it took Capcom some eleven years to release a new game in the franchise.

2, 3, 4 were definitely the heyday I think… but I enjoyed them all nonetheless.
