Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero
Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero was the first game in the MK series to not be a fighting game. Instead, the title focuses on the the series’ familiar icy character as he goes on a quest to stop the evil Elder God Shinnok from being resurrected. As an action/adventure game is just meh, but as an MK game it’s actually quite good. Yeah, it’s not a fighting game and the franchise has no business outside of the fighting ring, but I thought it was a great way to flesh out the series’ genuinely interesting storyline. The PS1 version had these super cheesy live action cutscenes that are awesomely bad! Midway and the developers of the franchise started to add more elements in further games to add more to the story, but this stands as one of the finest spinoff games in the series (next to Shaolin Monks).
