X-Men: Mutant Academy

X-Men Mutant Academy Cover

System: PS1

Genre: Fighting

Release: 7/6/00

Completed: Partially

Don’t get confused: this game is not a sequel to Capcom’s 2D fighting game X-Men: Children of the Atom. And honestly if you’ve seen both games you’d never imagine it so. Mutant Academy is a fighting gmae but it’s a 2.5D fighter published by Activision featuring the X-men license. The fighting actually wasn’t bad, and it was developed by the same company behind the surprisingly decent Wu-Tang: Shaolin StyleMutant Academy has a large roster of combatants (some from the X-Men movie, which came out around the time of this game) and a fun fighting system that took advantage of each mutant’s special abilities. There aren’t too many decent comic-to-game adaptations, but this is a good one.
