Bangai-O

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Shooter

Release: 3/21/01

Completed: No

I have yet to play this game. I have, however, dabbled with the sequel on the DS, Bangai-O: Spirits. This game and the sequel are shooters where you fly around in a mech and pretty much blow up everything on the screen. If that sounds like fun to you, then Bangai-O is for you indeed!

Atari Anniversary Edition

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Compilation/Retro

Release: 6/28/01

Completed: No

Compilation games are usually a great value, and there is always a boom of early, retro games with every new console. The Dreamcast had several, including the Atari collection. It featured classics like Centipede, Asteroid, and Missile Command. If you’re a fan of older games, it doesn’t get much better than Atari. But if you’re a collector like me, then you just need the game just to complete the set.

Army Men: Sarge’s Heroes

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Shooter

Release: 11/16/00

Completed: No

Though I’ve not played the Dreamcast version of the game, I have played the Nintendo 64 version of Sarge’s Heroes. I recall renting that game and playing it back when the Army Men games were extremely popular for whatever reason. This game felt more like a game I’d enjoy, in the same vein as Goldeneye or later FPS’s. If you don’t know/remember, the Army Men games’ big draw was that you played as the iconic children’s toy, the green, plastic army men. Yeah, they made a series of games about those toys.

Alien Front Online

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Shooter

Release: 9/09/01

Completed: No

I have yet to play this game. The game sounds somewhat like Twisted Metal, where players choose a side to play (aliens or humans), hop in vehicles, and destroy one another. As you can see on the packaging, the game supported “real-time voice chat,” which was something innovative at the time. Unfortunately due to the game coming out over a decade ago, any online servers it would have had are now down, removing the 8-player multiplayer aspect the game supported.

4 Wheel Thunder

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Racing

Release: 4/30/00

Completed: No

I have yet to play this game. It’s likely I won’t play this one either. I mean seriously, what type of gamer was demanding this game? I’m sure someone enjoyed it, but not this guy.

18 Wheeler: American Pro Trucker

System: Dreamcast

Genre: Racing

Release: 5/25/01

Completed: No

I have yet to play this game. And it’s likely I never will: racing games aren’t my forte, and a game centering on the “American Pro Trucker” just doesn’t make me itching to play.
