Mario’s fifth tennis outing is one of his best. The tennis in Mario Tennis Open is the same tennis we’re used to, but presented in a much better format. No more do you run around the court and smack balls back willy nilly. Well I suppose you can still do all that, but there’s a greater emphasis placed on shot placement, type of shot used, and returning a shot with the proper type of shot. What it means is if you return a slice with a top spin, you’ll be a lot more effective than if you just hit the ball back flat. As a tennis fan, I thought this was a good addition, as it makes the game more strategic. In terms of actual gameplay, Mario Tennis Open is a good one, with plenty of options to keep you entertained for a long time, as well as a fantastic online mode. If you’re a tennis fan, I recommend this one as one of the best on-the-go games of tennis around.
